September 25th METS GAME fundraiser

The new UNION treasurer Robert Cornachia is running our first fundraiser. He's aquired 200 tickets to the tuesday September 25th METS game vs the Washington Nationals; and is selling them for $20 each. He's already sold over 150 tickets, and if need be can purchase more. Contact Robert at (516) 652-2927. The tailgate festivities will begin around 3:30 PM in the parking lot adjoining the Worlds Fair marina North of Shea Stadium and the Whitestone expressway overlooking Flushing Bay. Game starts at 7 PM. Lets show our support to the newly elected Executive Board. Great Job!

On behalf of the Executive Board, I thank the 153 guards, alumni, family and friends for attending our initial fundraising event at Shea Stadium 9-25. We started @ 3:30 with a tailgate BBQ and raffle (Jet tickets, etc.) alongside the water, and then made the five minute walk into the Stadium. The weather was fabulous, as was the fellowship. Some alumni and current guards hadn't seen each other in thirty years. Everyone enjoyed the day immensely. The only bummer was for Met fans, who watched their team play like crap and lose to the lowly Washington Nationals.
We hope the word will spread about how much fun these events are, and that you will join us for the next one. The funds will be used to pay back those who have funded or are currently funding Corps activities, and to fund projects that didn't start for lack of funding, like the Race t-shirts.
