DO NOT SEND IN YOUR LIFEGUARD PAPERWORK!

As some of you may already know or not, the rehire papers have been sent out and some were received today. Unfortunately certain items have reared their ugly heads. 20/40 vision, all applicants must have a doctor verify health and vision, a release form for medical information, only issued bathing suits for the test........ These certainly are troublesome issues.

As of this moment the Executive Board is advising you that that the rehire papers should not be sent in until these issues are taken care of. An Emergency SS meeting and EB meeting are underway. Check your email and log into www.jblifeguard.org for more updates on this very important matter.

Please take the time to telephone one or two people from your beach, and in turn, ask them to telephone one or two more... These issues are of the upmost importance, both for this year and for the future. Even if you are in perfect health now and can see for miles, who knows what the future will bring. These issues must be addressed. Now is the time to stand together as the Jones Beach Lifeguard Corps...

Just a thought:
Is there anyway for an EB member or Shop Steward to look at the paperwork while it is being put together so that this way we don't have to worry about things like this anymore?

Tony;
If the Water Safety Office worked hand in hand with the Shop Stewards and Executive Board then everything would work much smoother. You and I know that ain't going to happen!
After the past 5 years at the beach without a raise and the current NYSCOPBA situation I really don't think anyone expects that to happen any time soon. Maybe you can give Joe Scalise a call and see if he'll listen to reason?

WE STRONGLY URGE YOU TO HOLD OFF RETURNING REHIRE PAPERWORK UNTIL THE ENTIRE PACKET IS REVIEWED BY THE EB, SHOP STEWARDS AND OTHER PARTIES. IN DISCUSSION WITH HUMAN RESOURCES IN BABYLON, IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION THAT A SET OF REVISED MEDICAL FORMS ARE BEING SENT OUT. UNTIL THAT IS THROUGHLY REVIEWED, WE URGE YOU TO HOLD OFF ON SENDING YOUR PAPERWORK IN.

WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION IN THIS MATTER.

Everybody should receive a new yellow medical form in the mail. That yellow form will replace the two blue forms. Do not send the blue forms back. The Executive Board highly recommends that you make the following alterations to your paperwork. Once that is done you may send them in. The words "first-year" should be crossed out and on the March 23, 2007 letter that we have to sign on the rehire & the words in the second paragraph "Jones Beach Lifeguard Corps issued" should be crossed out. In that same letter where we are to check the words "JB Lifeguard Corps" should be crossed out – If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact any member of the Executive Board. You can reach us by going to the following link. http://www.jblifeguard.org/ExecutiveBoard2.php

It has been brought to my attention by Dennis Kane (Thanks Dennis) that on the seasonal appointment letter you are supposed to sign for the seasonal employee handbook. If you did not get one in your rehire packet (which I don’t think anybody has) you shouldn’t sign for it! We do not know if there have been any changes made since last year. Cross off that part that you received the handbook and sign the rest.

additionally: Due to the rectification of our biggest concerns in regards to the rehire package, the shop stewards meeting scheduled for this Wednesday April 4th, has been CANCELLED. The meeting will be as originally scheduled on April 18th. However, if you HAVE NOT received your rehire paperwork please email cary@jblifeguard.org or levy.steve@gmail.com IMMEDIATELY!
