Deficit Reduction Program

Fellow Lifeguards,
Many of you have received paychecks this week and noticed an amount taken out called State Deficit Reduction Program or DRP. Here is an explanation from Bruce Meirowitz:
Many of you have received your first paycheck and noticed the 14-15 68 SS DRP-1.923 percent. This is the State Deficit Reduction Program. Here and after (DRP). DRP was mandatory in negotiations by every State bargaining unit and employee. The 1.923 percent will be deducted from the gross pay each pay period. The contract with the State provides that ALL contributions will be returned at Termination of employment. The Lifeguards terminate officially on our last day of summer work. We will receive a check after termination for all money withheld. The specific language pertaining to DRP can be found in the 2011-2015 UUP contract appendix B.
As a reminder, the draft will be this Saturday, June 21st, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the West End II veranda/concession.
