The article on the history of the union stated that we as a CORPS have never had a written collective bargaining aggreement. This statement isn't accurate. I have a copy of a signed off written collective bargaining agreement covering the years 1985-1987. I also have a copy of the negotiated 1972 document that is signed by both the State LISPC, and the lifeguards. I also spoke with our first Union president Pat Linehan who assured me he negotiated and signed off on written agreements throughout his term of office 1972-1979.
Untill we can finally locate the records of our Union we cannot accurately chart our History and are forced to deal with the "remembered" history from our past Union representatives. Our early history from our first Union from 1963 to 1972, The Building Sevices International Union, SEIU local 381 of the AFL-CIO, are all stored out in Detroit Michigan at Wayne State University's Reuther Labor Archives.
Our records from 1972 through to the present are difficult to locate. Jimmy Cash has said many of the records he had in the Field #1 office are missing. All of us should be interested in these records, and efforts should be made to locate them and safeguard them.
