Post A union member needs help Posted: Fri Jun 05, 2009 9:36 pm

I have been recentlly informed that a long tine union member has been singled out to take a physical exam that would exclude him from elegibility to work, even though he passed his re- hire certification. I would like to think our (union) will be acting in his best interest. I feel this is a number one priority not to be taken lightly since he is a great asset to the corp and if not resolved properly will have a great impact on all members

I, and I hope the rest of the corp. agree. It is unacceptable if we don't hear from the executive board on this matter. This could be the WORST presidence ever set for our corp.

Nothing new here?

I've been working at Jones Beach for over 30 seasons and know that every summer individuals are singled out and GONE AFTER.

I hear that the individual in question has NYSUT legal representation which is a FAR Cry from the way things have been handled in the past.

We All remember the Guys that were GONE AFTER when the NY State Attorney's General report came out concerning Lying on our Applications about past Arrest Records?

Who had to get an attorney then?

Even our Union leaders at the time who moonlighted as Attorneys were collecting retainers at that time.........remember Roy Lester ESQ?

I think our Current Executive Board is on the Watch, and along with Our NYSUT union leadership will address this situation.

Does any one ELSE out there have an Opinion?

Rest assured that the individual you are referring to has the full legal representation of our NYSUT Labor Relation Specialist. I will not discuss the particulars of this issue, but the ramifications are far reaching and it has the full attention of your EB.
