It has come the point where we must all take a stand. After this weekends almost record crowds we are left without. The state brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars if not millions and they are unwilling to offer the lifeguards a raise. Forget about NYSCOPBA if the state thought we should get a raise they would have offered one by now with or without the blessing of NYSCOPBA.
I think the first action we should ALL take is contacting our state representatives in Albany and ask them to put pressure on the powers that be to get this thing done and get us a fair raise. the best way is to go on the state Assembly website and search by zip code for your representative. It gives you their email and phone numbers. If we all make an effort and annoy the crap out of them the ball might get rolling much faster. Its amazing what gets done when a fire is lit under someones ass.
Just another idea. State Senator Fuschillo has open office hours at the Seaford Library on July 20th from 1-3 PM. No Appointment is necessary. His website stated that all topics and concerns may be addressed with he and his staff at this time. I know will go and ask the tough questions. Look to see if any others offer the same opportunity in your areas.
